What happens during treatment

Dr. Keven Freeman numbs the tooth, removes the infected nerve from inside it, cleans and seals the canals, and places a filling. Most teeth then get a crown to protect them. For most people it feels a lot like getting a filling.

Nervous? You're not alone.

Helping people get past their fear of the dentist is one of Dr. Freeman's favorite parts of the job. We go at your pace, and nitrous oxide is available.

Common questions.

Is a root canal painful?

The tooth is fully numbed, so most patients feel pressure, not pain. The treatment relieves the toothache that brought you in.

How many visits does it take?

Often one or two, plus a visit for the crown that protects the tooth.

Why not just pull the tooth?

Keeping your natural tooth is usually best for your bite and jawbone. If a tooth can't be saved, we'll talk about extraction and replacement options.

Can I go back to work after?

Most people go back to normal activities the same day. Your tooth may be tender for a few days.
